1939 Smith-Corona Telegraph No. 8A
2S 81524 8A
This is a very rare telegraph typewriter. I’m unaware of any others exactly like it. This one was made for British use in 1939—during the lead-up to World War II. Notice what appears to be two space bars. The bar on the left is actually a shift bar for symbols and numbers. The bar on the right is a true space bar. This design accelerated the transcription of telegraphs.
