1943 Smith-Corona Silent (U.S. Army)

This typewriter was used by the United States Army during World War II. According to the Onondaga Historical Association, war-related production was suspended at Corona’s Groton factory in 1943 for two months while employees at the factory made much-desired portable typewriters for the military. This is one of the typewriters made during that two-month period in 1943.
